高密度で織り上げられた通称“ジャングルクロス”は、洋上で冷風に晒されるデッキクルー達の身体を寒さから守った。初期型のデッキジャケットにはフロント開閉パーツとしてファスナーが採用されていたが、海水の塩分によって錆が生じやすく、後期型はフックタイプに変更された。

High density and tightly woven grosgrain called “jungle cloth” protected deck crew exposed to cold wind on the sea by shielding their bodies from the cold. The first model of the deck jacket had a fastener closure in the front. As the salt of the seawater made the fastener prone to rusting, the closure was changed to a hook type in later models.
